Is your HVAC quote fair?
Pick your city and job, enter the quote you were given, and we'll compare it to typical local pricing — then point you to license-verified contractors nearby. A low quote isn't always a deal; a high one isn't always a rip-off. Here's the read.
How the read works
Your quote sits inside the typical range for that job in your city. Reasonable — still ask for an itemized scope and a permit.
Higher than typical. Can be legitimate (premium equipment, hard access, extra ductwork) — get an itemized scope and a second quote.
Lower than typical. Sometimes a deal, sometimes thin scope or an unlicensed installer. Confirm the license and what's included.

About this tool
Where do these price ranges come from?
Collected from quotes and published local pricing per city and reviewed periodically, with the review date shown. They're typical ranges for a standard 2–3 ton residential job — not a bid for your specific home. A proper quote depends on a Manual J load calculation.
My quote is below the range — is that good?
Not always. A low quote can be a genuine deal, but it can also mean thin scope (no permit, no Manual J, used or off-brand equipment) or an unlicensed contractor. Confirm the license and what the price includes before you sign.
My quote is above the range — am I overcharged?
Not necessarily. Premium equipment, difficult access, added ductwork, or a larger system will push a fair price above the typical range. Ask for an itemized scope, and it's always reasonable to get a second quote.
Ranges are typical local pricing for a standard residential job and are informational only — not a bid, appraisal, or guarantee. Your actual price depends on your home, equipment, and a load calculation. HVAC Registrar is an independent registry, not affiliated with any licensing board.
