Privacy Policy

This policy explains what HVAC Registrar ("HVAC Registrar," "we," "us") collects when you use https://hvacregistrar.com, why, and your choices. We keep it plain. If you have questions, email team@hvacregistrar.com.
Who this covers
Two groups use this site: homeowners looking for HVAC contractors and information, and contractors listed in or claiming a spot on our registry. Some sections apply to one group more than the other; we note where.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you request a quote, claim a listing, report a listing, or contact us, we collect what you enter — typically your name, phone, email, ZIP or address, and details about your request or business. For managed-service (concierge) requests, we also collect the project details needed to review a quote.
Contractor listing data. Contractor listings are built from public sources — public business directories (such as Google Maps) and North Carolina's public contractor-license records. This is public business information (business name, address, phone, website, ratings, and license status). It is not personal information you provided to us, and a listing does not imply the contractor is our customer or endorses us.
Information collected automatically. Like most sites, we collect basic usage data (pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device and browser type, referring site) through analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization enabled. We do not use this to identify you personally.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies for site function and for Google Analytics 4 (to understand which pages are useful). GA4 sets its own cookies; you can read Google's practices at policies.google.com/privacy. You can block cookies in your browser, use a browser extension to opt out of Google Analytics, or use private browsing. We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
How we use information
- To connect homeowners with license-verified contractors they requested.
- To provide the optional managed-quote (concierge) service you asked for.
- To verify and display contractor license status from public records.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site.
- To respond to your messages and, if you're a contractor, to communicate about your listing.
How we share information
With contractors, when you ask us to. If you request a quote, we share your request and contact details with the license-verified contractor(s) matched to it so they can respond. That's the point of the request. We share only what's needed to fulfill it.
Service providers. We use vendors to run the site (hosting, forms, email/SMS delivery, analytics, our internal database). They handle data only to provide those services.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
How we get paid (disclosure)
When we connect you with a contractor and you hire them, that contractor may pay us a referral fee. It does not increase your price. If you choose our managed service, the fee shown is a separate, optional charge for our review and oversight. This is disclosed at the point of the request; see our Terms.
Your choices and rights
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing team@hvacregistrar.com.
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any such email.
- Contractors: request changes to or removal of your listing (see below).
- Depending on your state, you may have additional rights (access, deletion, opt-out of sale/sharing). We honor these; we do not sell data regardless.
Contractors: your listing
Listings are compiled from public records to help homeowners find licensed contractors. If you want to claim, correct, or request removal of your listing, email team@hvacregistrar.com or use report a listing. License status shown reflects public records as of the date we checked, which is displayed on the listing.
Data retention and security
We keep information as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Children
This site is for adults arranging home services. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, note it on the site.
