How this check works

01

Sourced from public record

Contractors enter the registry from state filings and public listings — not by signing up or paying.

02

Checked with the board

We look up each business with the NC State Board of Examiners: license number, class, status, qualifier.

03

Shown with the date

Every result carries the date we checked, so you can judge how current it is. No paraphrasing.

See when each check happened in the verification log.

Or browse verified contractors by city

Suburbs are folded into their nearest hub. More cities open as they reach three license-verified contractors. See all coverage.

About this tool

How current is the license status shown here?

Each record shows the exact date we checked it against the state board. We re-check licensed contractors on a rolling basis and stamp every entry with its check date.

What does "no license on record" mean?

We searched the state board for that business and did not match an active heating-contractor license as of the date shown. It does not by itself prove a business is unlicensed — a license may be filed under a different legal name, or records can lag. Ask the contractor for their license number directly.

My business isn't listed, or the info is wrong.

If you're the contractor, claim your listing to correct it and add your certificate of insurance, or request a change. We re-check public records and update entries.

HVAC Registrar is an independent registry and is not affiliated with the State of North Carolina or any licensing board. License status reflects public records as of the date shown on each entry. Always confirm a contractor's current license directly with the NC State Board before hiring.
