Methodology
How we verify and list contractors
HVAC Registrar lists every residential HVAC contractor we can identify from public records in the cities we cover, checks each against the state license board, and shows what we found with the date we found it.
Where the list comes from
Contractors are added from public business listings and state license records for each city, whether or not they have claimed the listing. We exclude suppliers, closed businesses and national franchise brands. Unclaimed listings show only public facts.
License checks
Each business is looked up in the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors license search. We record the number, class, status and qualifier and display the check date. Records are re-checked at least every twelve months and whenever a contractor claims or updates a listing.
Order on city pages
Featured entries first (paid, labelled, maximum three per city), then Airworthy Verified, then Registered, then Unclaimed. Within each group, entries are ordered by public review count. Nothing else affects order.
Reviews
We show the public Google rating and review count with an "as of" date and link to the source. We do not copy review text and do not accept reviews on this site.
How we make money
Featured placement and optional services for contractors. Placement is disclosed on the page and links from Featured entries are marked sponsored. Verification status is never sold.
Corrections
Contractors can update their record by claiming their listing. Anyone can report a listing; we re-check the public records and correct within five business days. Editorial and data policy.
